The searing heat of small town Texas comes to Fredericksburg

Caroline Community Theatre and the Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble (FTE) will partner and perform two of playwright James McClure's bittersweet comedies, Laundry and Bourbon & Lone Star, on March 25th and 26th at the Rappahannock Regional Library Theatre.  Visit www.fredericksburgtheatre.org for more information.

The show begins with CCT's award-winning production of Laundry and Bourbon, a tale centering around Elizabeth, wife of Roy, and her old friend Hattie; a frazzled yet frantic mother of three. While folding laundry and watching a TV game show they drink bourbon and coke and reminisce about happier times, until their afternoon is rudely interrupted by the arrival of Amy Lee, the town's do-gooder and Hattie's social arch enemy, who brings news of Roy's latest infidelity.

The second act is FTE's production of Lone Star which is set in the backyard of Maynard's local bar and gives voice to the men folk alluded to in the first half. Roy, a one-time local heart-breaking hero newly returned from Vietnam, and his brother Ray are interrupted by Cletis, a newlywed Baptist, who arrives to tell Ray that he has destroyed Roy's beloved 1959 pink Thunderbird convertible. Ray agrees to take the blame for it and while he's at it admits a secret that will change Roy's life forever.

Due to scheduling constraints, the April 1st and 2nd shows have been canceled.

Coming October 2011!

If your wealthy, judgmental father hasn't seen you in five years, you might want to impress him. That's Joe Todd's reason for hiring a woman for the evening to pose as his fiancee. It seems like such a simple way for Joe to prove to his family that his life isn't as empty and pointless as they think it is. The way Joe's idea doesn't work is what makes Drinking Alone an enjoyable comedy for all.

Auditions for Drinking Alone will be held in August.
